To: info-hams@ucsd.edu Good on going discussion guys/girls. 1. Many complain about their penmanship. Looks like to me you can kill two birds with one stone. Get a book on penmanship (they still write those don't they?). Find the best style to copy and work on penmanship at the same time. 2. Start with cursive, don't DON'T print. 3. Practice not dotting i's and j's and don't cross the t's. This will come in handy later at higher speeds. 4. Use only half the horizontal width of the page. 5. Write small, remember t=d/v, where t is the time to write a critter, d is the distance pen/pencil must move, and v is the velocity at which you can move the pen/pencil over the writing surface. Use ballpoint, not pencil. Pencil drags too much. I hate ballpoint, as i am OF and prefer fountain pen, but I use ballpoint for copying code up to 40 or 45 wpm, if i must write it down. I leave it as an exercise for the student to determine why each of the above is logical. P.S. Someone complained that writing required you needed to know the next critter. If I remember correctly, it really doesn't matter. Maybe that's why you should copy behind. :-) dit dit -- Chuck Adams K5FO CP-60 adams@sgi.com ------------------------------ Date: 27 Feb 1994 23:04:52 GMT From: ihnp4.ucsd.edu!swrinde!gatech!newsxfer.itd.umich.edu!news1.oakland.edu!nova!schken@network.ucsd.edu Subject: IC-765 Replacement?
